Campus Report: Jan. 23 to Feb. 2

Thursday, Jan. 23

Manchester Police Department called MCC Police at 3:51 p.m. to report a single car motor vehicle accident into a telephone pole on Ramey Dr. near Bidwell. The vehicle was going east on Ramey Dr. approaching a curve to the left. The operator of the vehicle was unable to negotiate the curve and the vehicle drove off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle struck and knocked down MCC light pole #4, which was several feet off the travel portion of the roadway. Officer Mulligan arrived on scene and determined there were no injuries at 3:55 p.m. Manchester Fire Department also arrived at 3:55 p.m. the light pole was completely knocked down, therefore the campus electrician was called in at 4:00 p.m. to cap off the wires. The electrician arrived on campus at 4:20 p.m. The vehicle operator was given a verbal warning for traveling unreasonably fast.

Monday, Jan. 27

At 12:24 p.m. a MCC Custodian contacted MCC Police informing them of a female student having a seizure in the AST corridor between C wing and D wing. Officers Sinnamon, Agudo, and Mulligan responded to the call. Sinnamon came upon the scene and attempted to talk to the student. She was unaware of what had occurred, stating that she was fine. The student handed Sinnamon her Bank of America card when asked to see her license. Mulligan arrived with EMS and asked her if she was aware of where she was. She replied saying that she was in the hospital, and was then transported to Manchester Memorial Hospital.

Tuesday, Jan. 28

A woman called headquarters at 11:02 a.m. to report that someone had hit her car coming in from Hillstown Road and the other vehicle had sped off. The woman’s car was stopped at Great Path Academy facing west in front of Hillstown Road when the other vehicle hit the car’s left rear bumper. The woman said that she observed the vehicle back up and leave the scene. The woman’s car had damage to the left rear bumper. There were no witnesses present.

At 12:31 p.m. a MCC student reported that she had hot tea spill on both hands while sitting on the second floor of the SSC building in the lounge area in front of the Culinary Arts Department. This occurred during heavy pedestrian traffic and someone had bumped the table causing her hot tea to spill on her hands. She was given an ice pack for her hands and signed a refusal to transport form. She was advised to seek medical attention if the pain or condition worsened.
