Manchester Community College’s Twenty-Third Annual Evening of Fine Wines is recruiting student volunteers during the event dates on April 30 and May 1.

Volunteers are needed on Thursday, April 30 in the afternoon and evening and from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday May 1. Duties may include set-up, decorating, greeting guests, registration, checkout and much more. Food and refreshments will be provided on both dates. Students will also receive a free t-shirt.

The purpose for this volunteer opportunity is to have students make a commitment now for the day(s) and time(s) they are available. Each volunteer’s assistance will be counted and the co-chair committees for this event will do their best to accommodate with the student’s schedule.

This opportunity also comes at a perfect time as students are completing college applications for transfer and pursuing scholarships. Although it is not a requirement for receiving a scholarship award, this opportunity can be listed as a volunteer activity on their applications if they decide to get involved.

Proceeds from the Evening of Fine Wines support scholarships and programming for students at MCC. In 2014, the event raised over $240,000.

In order to make the Evening of Fine Wines a success, students should consider donating some of their time to help; this is a great way to get students volunteer hours in.

For more information about volunteering for the event, contact co-chair committee Joy Thompson by email: volunteer@manchestercc.edu or call at 860-512-3233 by April 17, 2015. The “Volunteer Recruitment” Committee will follow up with students to place them in areas where help is needed.

Students are also invited to volunteer as the leader of a student volunteer group or in another capacity. Let the Volunteer Committee know if you are interested and they’ll work with you to set the date and times you are available.
